Common Home Insurance questions
| Q: |
Can I switch my insurance
right now or do I need to wait until it expires? |
| A: |
You can switch your insurance company at any time. Your current
insurance company will issue you a refund check for the unearned
premium. |
| Q: |
Why do I need homeowners
insurance? |
| A: |
Protect your Home, protect your belongings, and protect
the assets you’ve worked so hard for!
- Dwellings and other structures - For most of us, our home
is the single, largest investment we will make. Homeowners
insurance provides coverages for damage to your home and
other structures on your property such as a shed or detached
garage.
- Personal Property - Homeowners insurance also provides
coverage for your household contents and personal belongings.
You may think your couch, coffee table, sweaters, shoes,
coats, TV, VCR and CD player aren't worth a lot but those
items all add up.
- Personal Liability - Finally, in the event someone is
injured on your property or you damage property that belongs
to others, you could be held legally liable for the injury
or damage. A homeowner policy provides liability and personal
property insurance to financially protect you should this
ever occur.
Enjoy the benefits of Homeowner’s liability insurance
even if you rent or own a condominium. If you rent or own
a condominium, you still need coverage for your household
contents and personal belongings and personal liability. There
are specific policies designed for those who rent or own condominiums. |

We
have standard features not found in many other policies :
Actual Rebuilding Costs.
Our homeowners Protector Plus insurance includes extended replacement
cost. This means that after a covered loss, we will pay up to 125%
of the policy amount to have your home rebuilt. Policies from many
companies will pay only up to the policy amount, whether it covers
your rebuilding costs or not.
Full replacement costs for contents.
Choose full replacement cost coverage for the contents of your
home. We cover the cost to replace everything from electronics to
antiques.
Additional living expenses.
After a covered loss, we will cover your temporary living expenses
while your home is being repaired or rebuilt.
Maintaining your normal standard of living is part of our promise
to you until your home is ready.
Rebuilding to code.
If you rebuild, you may be required to follow current, more stringent
building codes for things like electrical wiring or plumbing. This
could result in significant expenses. After a covered loss, Farmers
will pay these additional costs if you rebuild on the same location.
